Scottish Intergenerational Summer School

Summerschool 

1st - 3rd September, 2009: Glasgow.

The Scottish Intergenerational Summer School was a Professional Development course aimed at policy makers, practitioners and senior staff in organisations involved in intergenerational working. This residential event featured expert presentations and action-based training on intergenerational working in the public and voluntary sector.30 delegates came from as far as the Western Isles and Dumfries and Galloway.  The sectors were equally mixed with council backgrounds, voluntary organisations and funders.

This was the third stage of an exercise which focused on questions that opened up dialogue between people from different generations and backgrounds.  At this stage, the group were presenting a situation as a still-life 'postcard'.

* Magic Me is a specialist provider of intergenerational arts based projects in the East End of London. For the past five years Magic Me has worked with The Women's Library and Mulberry School for Girls to deliver an annual arts project for young women and older women as part of the after-school programme. Project themes have included beauty and self image,  women's relationship with the home, campaigning on issues of concern, and women's voices. Participants share their learning with the wider community through various artforms including photographs, poetry, a soundtrack and calendars.
