New Opportunities

'Connecting Generations' Micro grants. Deadline: 31st March. The Scottish Centre for Intergenerational Practice (Generations Working Together) wishes to provide funding to stimulate projects that demonstrate good practice and innovation in intergenerational activities in Scotland. There will be a limited number of grants of £250 to £750 through our one-off Micro Grants Programme. Applications should be made using the Micro Grant Form (Word Doc). This can be filled in electronically or printed out and contains complete guidelines on pages 4-6. 

Call for Proposals! IntergenerationAll programme. Deadline: Stage 1 - 26 March 2010 (12 noon). As part of its Ageing & Social Cohesion programme, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation over the next 12 months is hoping to award 18 projects in the UK and Portugal £30,000/€30,000 each, to develop intergenerational pilot projects that address a 21st century challenge. With this call, the Foundation is seeking new ideas from organisations with a proven track record of delivery.

Candidates selected for stage 2 will be required to submit a more detailed application by Friday 16th April 2010 (12 noon). The IntergenerationAll programme offers a choice of 3 different strands under which to apply: Environment: Migration and Intercultural issues: Isolation and Loneliness. Edinburgh World Heritage
The World Heritage Day celebration is planned for 18 April 2010. This year Edinburgh World Heritage will distribute grants to enable different groups, societies and associations to celebrate. The funding could go towards entrance fees, a guide, material costs or bus hire. They want to encourage each group to develop their own ideas for possible activities suited to their particular wishes and needs. This project will span from 15-22 April to give more flexibility. National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts ( NESTA) - The latest deadline of 1st March has passed. However ‘Age Unlimited Scotland' may provide further opportunities in the future so keep an eye on their website. Nesta targets people in their 50s and 60s to come up with ideas that could be turned into community projects to improve the lives of people in their 70s, 80s and above. Ongoing Funding

The Scottish Community Foundation can provide funds through a variety of grants programmes for community groups and charities to help build and sustain local projects.

Social Entrepreneurs Fund and UnLtd Millennium Awards Programme (managed by First Port). No upper age limit. Older adults are especially welcome and not only for intergenerational projects. (Scottish Government and Millennium Awards Trust.) Are you someone with a great idea to create positive change in your community and need some help to get going? BBC Children in Need, Small Grants (UK) Apply for grants of up to £10,000 through this BBC scheme. Not-for-profit organisations (including registered charities, voluntary organisations, schools, local authorities, churches, social enterprises, community interest groups, universities etc) working with disadvantaged children and young people 18 years and under, living in the UK, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands are eligible. The aim is to fund projects where a small amount can make a real contribution to the success of the project. There are four application deadlines in the year. The next deadline for applications is the 15th April 2010.
